VOC Survey
In 2017, VOCs were collected from April-September at five national park units (Carlsbad Caverns, Great Basin, Grand Canyon, Joshua Tree and Rocky Mountain). This survey study was aimed at investigating VOC composition, as VOCs play an important role in understanding ozone formation chemistry, and VOC composition can be used to characterize major emissions sources impacting park air quality. At the end of the survey, a short, intensive field study was conducted in and around Carlsbad Caverns and Guadalupe Mountains National Parks. In addition to VOCs, NOx, ozone, black carbon, and light scattering were measured in the surrounding areas using the Colorado State University mobile laboratory.
