Rocky Mountain Atmospheric Nitrogen and Sulfur Study (ROMANS)

Background

Increases in reactive nitrogen deposition are a growing concern in the U.S. Rocky Mountain west. The Rocky Mountain Airborne Nitrogen and Sulfur (RoMANS I and II) studies were designed to improve understanding of the species and pathways that contribute to deposition in Rocky Mountain National Park.  Gas and particle concentrations were measured and precipitation samples were collected at multiple sites as part of this study.
