A computer-imaging software program that simulates visual air quality
differences of various scenes. WinHaze was developed by John
Molenar at Air Resource Specialists,
Inc.
Changing
a photograph’s appearance to simulate visibility conditions for various air
quality levels can be a clear and effective way of illustrating visibility
changes. WinHaze, a Level-1 visual air quality model, is now available as freeware.
WinHaze
allows the user to input different optical parameters or concentrations of
aerosol species, to illustrate how these factors can affect the appearance of a
scene using a desktop computer. WinHaze currently includes the following scenic
locations for photographic simulation:

WinHaze is a 32-bit software program that can be installed and run only under
Windows 95, NT or 2000. Minimum system requirements include an 800 x 600 16-bit
color display set at small fonts, a mouse, and 100 mb of free disk space.
Download Whz280_1.exe to a temporary directory, then execute. Whz280_1.exe is a
self-extracting setup file which will install WinHaze on your system. This
file is 60 megabytes in size.
In order to obtain Winhaze:
If you use Microsoft Internet Explorer for your browser, simply click on this
link ftp://ftp.air-resource.com. Then,
right click on Whz280_1.exe and select Copy to Folder.
Netscape Users will need to use an FTP utility such as Ws_Ftp Pro, a commercial
software application obtained from Http://www.ipswitch.com.
You may also use the FTP command from the Windows MS-DOS prompt.
At the MS-DOS prompt enter:
ftp ftp.air-resource.com
User: Anonymous
Password: "Your email address"
