SITE HISTORY
Site Location: The monitoring site was located in west-central California, approximately 100 kilometers north of Fresno in the High Sierra Wilderness.
Photographic Station: The camera was originally located at Turtleback Dome on the western edge of the park near the Arch Rock Entrance and viewed Half Dome (~75°), 13.1 km. However, due to vandalism, the station was relocated in July of 1984 approximately 50 meters east, to Inspiration Point and viewed Telegraph Hill (~248°), 32.0 km.
Operational Period: Half Dome Vista (manual) 09/12/82 – 09/04/83
Half Dome Vista (automatic) 09/15/83 – 06/21/84, and 06/07/85 – 07/19/85
Telegraph Hill Vista 09/07/84 – 04/12/95
Data Collection: Photographs were taken at 09:00, 12:00, and 15:00 daily. Approximately 8,700 35mm-color slides of the Half Dome and Telegraph Hill Vistas were reviewed to develop the provided historical photographic archive.
