SITE HISTORY

Site Location: The monitoring site was located in Southern California, outside the northern boundary of the San Gorgonio Wilderness Area in the San Bernardino Mountains, approximately 140 kilometers east of Los Angeles.

Photographic Station: The camera was located at the Strawberry Peak Fire Lookout near the Valley of Enchantment and viewed Grinnel Mountain (~106°), 40.8 km.

Operational Period: Grinnel Mountain Vista 08/13/86 – 03/10/95

Data Collection: Photographs were taken at 09:00, 12:00, and 15:00 daily. Approximately 7,500 35mm-color slides of the Grinnel Mountain Vista were reviewed to develop the provided historical photographic archive.
