SITE HISTORY

 

 

Site Location:               The monitoring site was located in northern Colorado, approximately 105 kilometers northeast of Denver on State Highway 34 near Estes Park.

 

 

Photographic Station:    The camera was located on steep slope below the boardwalk at Many Parks Curve, northwest of the Moraine Park Museum and Beaver Meadows Entrance Visitor Center.  The camera viewed Elk Ridge (~111°), 21.8 km until April 1988.  At this time the camera was realigned to view Longs Peak (~175°), 14.7 km.

 

 

Operational Period:       Elk Ridge Vista 10/25/85 – 04/12/88

                                    Longs Peak Vista 04/12/88 – 01/31/95

 

 

Data Collection:            Photographs were taken at 09:00, 12:00, and 15:00 daily.  Approximately 9,200 35mm-color slides of both the Elk Ridge and Longs Peak Vistas were reviewed to develop the provided historical photographic archive.
