SITE HISTORY

 

 

Site Location:               The monitoring site was located in southern Colorado within the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, approximately 40 kilometers northeast of Alamosa on State Highway 150.

 

 

Photographic Station:    The camera was located approximately 3 kilometers south of the Great Sand Dunes National Monument entrance station and visitors center on Highway 150.  The camera viewed Gibson Peak (~339°), 43.7 km.

 

 

Operational Period:       Gibson Peak Vista 07/29/87 – 04/11/95

 

 

Data Collection:            Photographs were taken at 09:00, 12:00, and 15:00 daily.  Approximately 7,000 35mm-color slides of the Gibson Peak Vista were reviewed to develop the provided historical photographic archive.
