SITE HISTORY

 

 

Site Location:               The monitoring site was located along the Atlantic coast of southeastern New Jersey at the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Headquarters, approximately 5 kilometers east of Oceanville.

 

 

Photographic Station:    The camera was located approximately 120 meters east of the visitor center/administration building at the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters and viewed Reeds Bay (~150°). A second camera system, run by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Quality from January 1987 through November 1993, was located near Hatfield Point and viewed the Showboat Casino (~230°), 17.4 km.

 

 

Operational Period:       Showboat Casino Vista 01/08/87 – 11/30/93 (operated by the State of NJ)

Reeds Bay Vista 05/14/92 – 03/01/99

 

 

Data Collection:            Photographs were taken at 09:00, 12:00, and 15:00 daily.  Approximately 7,000 35mm-color slides of the Reeds Bay Vista were reviewed to develop the provided historical photographic archive.
