SITE HISTORY

Site Location: The monitoring site was located in the Cascade Mountains of southwestern Oregon, approximately 150 kilometers southeast of Eugene.

Photographic Station: The camera was located atop of Crater Lake Lodge on the southwestern edge of the Crater Lake rim. The camera viewed Mount Thielsen (~12°), 27.4 km, until October 1991 when lodge renovations forced the relocation of the camera. After the lodge renovations were complete, the camera was reinstalled 200 yards west of its original location and viewed Palisade Point (~42°), 8.88km until April 1995.

Yamsay Mountain Vista 08/09/87 – 09/01/91

Palisade Point Vista 12/02/91 - 04/03/95

Data Collection: Photographs were taken at 09:00, 12:00, and 15:00 daily. Approximately 5,000 35mm-color slides of the Mount Thielsen Vista were reviewed to develop the provided historical photographic archive.
