SITE HISTORY
Site Location: The monitoring site was located in eastern South Carolina along the Atlantic coast, approximately 32 kilometers north of Charleston on US Highway 17. Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge is accessible only by boat.
Photographic Station: The camera was located on the lookout tower on Bull Island at the eastern edge of the refuge along the Summerhouse Road. The camera viewed the 1857 Lighthouse (~63°), 26.0 km.
Operational Period: 1857 Lighthouse Vista 02/27/95 – 01/20/00
Data Collection: Photographs were taken at 09:00, 12:00, and 15:00 daily. Approximately 4,000 35mm-color slides of the 1857 Lighthouse Vista were reviewed to develop the provided historical photographic archive.
