SITE HISTORY

Site Location: The monitoring site was located in Big Bend National Park in the Chihuahuan desert of southwest Texas, south of Marathon on State Highway 118, bordered by the Rio Grande River and the US/Mexico border.

Photographic Station: The camera was located at the Panther Junction Visitor Center/Park Headquarters where Texas Highway 118 and US 385 intersect. The camera viewed Dagger Mountain (~20°), 28.0 km.

Operational Period: Dagger Mountain Vista 09/17/81 – 07/01/95

Data Collection: Photographs were taken at 09:00, 12:00, and 15:00 daily. Approximately 15,000 35mm-color slides of the Dagger Mountain Vista were reviewed to develop the provided historical photographic archive.
