SITE HISTORY

Site Location: The monitoring site was located on the Department of Energy (Los Alamos Labs’) land in the Santa Fe National Forest, northeast of the monument in north-central New Mexico, approximately 75 kilometers west of Santa Fe.

Photographic Station: The camera was located on the Bandelier Fire Tower, approximately 1,200 meters northwest of Monument Headquarters, south of Juniper Campground. The camera viewed Sandia Crest (~190°), 65.0 km.

Operational Period: Sandia Crest Vista 07/02/87 – 04/02/95

Data Collection: Photographs were taken at 09:00, 12:00, and 15:00 daily. Approximately 6,150 35mm-color slides of the Sandia Crest Vista were reviewed to develop the provided historical photographic archive.
