ANNUAL TRENDS (5 year rolling averages) - AMBIENT MASS AND LIGHT EXTINCTION This file contains annual concentrations of the total fine and coarse aerosol concentrations and major fine aerosol types as well as reconstructed light extinction and contribution of the aerosol types to light extinction. The fractional contribution of the aerosol types to the reconstructed fine aerosol mass and light extinction is also provided. The annual data were aggregated upto 5 years using a 5 year rolling average. 1993 encompases years 1989-93. All calculations followed the procedures from the Draft Guidance for Tracking Progress Under the Regional Haze Rule (9/27/01). (see http://vista.cira.colostate.edu/improve/Publications/GuidanceDocs/guidancedocs.htm) A possible bias in the pre 6/1996 nitrate data and some of the eastern US particle sulfur data exists. For more information see http://vista.cira.colostate.edu/improve/Data/QA_QC/issues.htm. To minimize these biases SO4 ion data were used to replace all potentially biased sulfur data. Constant group 10, 50 and 90 ammonium nitrate value were used in all calculations, where the ammonium nitrate values were calculated from the 1997-99 data following the procedures from the Draft Guidance for Tracking Progress Under the Regional Haze Rule (9/27/01).
